Abstract
The works of Richard D. Dobbins, Ph.D. have been examined to determine whether his beliefs fulfill the requirements of a theory of counseling. The author believes there is a lack of counseling theories which openly deal with the spiritual element of humankind. He contents that there are a number of spiritual-based authors which can be studied. Burks and Stefflre's (1979) criteria are used to test Dobbins' ideas that have been brought forth in his various books, tapes, films, and seminar materials. In the final cahpter, the author discusses why Dobbins' work should be considered as a theory of counseling.
